most enjoyable four days spent in Peel in the company of Old Rydalian friends there for David Moore's 70th birthday celebrations. Railway trip up Snaefell, visit to the Laxey Wheel, and train to Groudle Glenn. Steady 30 Knot winds for most of the time and Wednesday was the first opportunity to sail to Bangor. We set sail at 6am and were in Bangor Marina for midday. Martin and Renee and David and Carolyne were there to greet us and entertained us to dinner in the Royal Ulster Yacht Club. This is the home of Sir Thomas Lipton who challenged America on five occasions in the America's Cup sadly losing every time!
We set sail at seven this morning and had a lively sail to Islay in strong winds arriving at two. Entry to the small marina was untenable with strong currents and forty knot winds, so we anchored in the bay and waited for the wind to drop and the tidal current to slacken. Rowland is waitig for us to enter with a Lobster dinner!
Asia 1 and Asia 2 are settling in well and seem to be enjoying the experience.
