Arrived in Viveiro yesterday evening. Maybe not in the style we like to arrive in though!

I called the marina and they helpfully said that somebody would be along to help us moor up. My heart usually sinks when I hear this as we have a fairly well rehearsed procedure between the two of us..

The mooring they offered us was just inside the narrow marina entrance opposite a sea wall.

We were reversing nicely into the slot when without warning the boat was slewed off sideways by an enormous unexpected current. If you can imagine fitting something 4 meters wide into a 4.5 meter slot at a speed of 0.5 knots when the cross current suddenly picks up to 2 or 3 knots you'll get the idea! Anyway it took several attempts each with an increasing level of embarrasment before we were safely snugged in.

Whilst paying for the slot the marina guy said "Oh that space is notorious, that's why we like to send people down to help..." I guess he could have warned us beforehand, but where would the fun be in that?

Calmed down in the marina restaurant run by some really nice people who produced a lovely meal washed down with copious amounts of beer.

At about 01:30 this morning the young people on the next boat arrived back and thought it would be a good idea to party until 06:30. Grrrrrrr

We have been promised a specialy cooked lobster paella tonight. Yum!!

Off to Ribadeo tomorrow.
