We spent a couple of pleasant days in Muscat Cove. It turns out the resort provides the barbecue fires as well as plates and cutlery so there’s no washing up, so naturally its full of yachties not all of whom I’m sorry to say were entirely sober. Paul Hogan propped up the bar for a bit Sunday evening, rumour has it he was celebrating his 70th.
I had my first tsunami warning from Demetra via cell phone. A few minutes later most of the 30 or so yachts moored in the bay began a mass exodus. Those in the marina were sent to higher ground but not allowed to try and leave with their boats as there wasn’t time. We were in deeper water in the lee of the island ten minutes before the wave, if there was actually a tsunami, was expected. A half an hour or so later the alert was cancelled as the tsunami never materialised and the mass re-entry to the anchorage began. We stopped for a swim on the way back.
Not many snaps today. I went for a long walk in Muscat Cove and forgot to take the camera. I enclose a shot of a very odd looking boat where they seem to have chopped off the back few feet of a sail boat and the front few feet of a powerboat and stuck them together. There is also a large rock where we stopped for a swim on the way back to Denerau.
