Valdivia Update

We had meetings with the yard this morning and we all agree the boat will probably have to be hauled. The only way to do this is to get a crane to remove the mast so we can take the boat to a commercial yard where they have a rail system but unfortunately it means passing under a bridge with only 14 metres clearance. Two men from Princess arrive tomorrow afternoon to inspect the situation and make their proposals. Nick Fletcher left us this afternoon and Niko leave a couple of days after I do. Friday afternoon I fly to Santiago in order to fly to Madrid on Saturday and on to Athens on Sunday. After a week in Spetses I return to London for a day then go to Rotterdam for LES MISERABLES for a few days then back to London for almost a week prior to returning here. This blog will probably go pretty silent during this period although if there are any interesting developments on the repair front I will post an entry, otherwise you all get a few weeks off until we start the next Act in The Pacific. I enclose a few photos of the yesterday’s trip up the Valdivia River; Up market Fishing boats, a wreck that didn’t pay attention to the green marker, various views, our much used pilot book and a mascot which has mysteriously appeared and disappeared. |
