The Wind has gone South this afternoon giving us a long tack only 10/15 degrees off course.  This is totally unexpected  but I’m not complaining. The grey has returned  as well which I probably will complain about.

TheWind has dropped but stayed South  and we’re gently carrying on virtually on course. Another Starry night the moon has yet to rise.

The wind dropped last night to 5 knots and while it was pleasant ghosting along at 2 knots for an hour, I bowed to the inevitable and  turned on the engine at 3AM. We are in a high pressure area and this morning the Pacific looks like it always does in Hollywood Films; lots of blue sky, a few wispy clouds and flat seas, i.e shorts and T-Shirt weather.

The outlook for the rest of this leg is mostly for light and variable winds with a little sailing and a lot of motoring. Let’s hope the diesel holds out.  We are doing much more motoring than I would like but under the circumstances we have little choice as we are so late.  Lee and Lucy, two friends of Demetri’s arive in  Easter Island Tuesday and will be waiting for us, if they haven’t gone native by the time we get there.
