Easter Island--590 miles

26:54.339 S 098:31.75 W The Wind has gone South this afternoon giving us a long tack only 10/15 degrees off course. This is totally unexpected but I’m not complaining. The grey has returned as well which I probably will complain about. TheWind has dropped but stayed South and we’re gently carrying on virtually on course. Another Starry night the moon has yet to rise. The wind dropped last night to 5 knots
and while it was pleasant ghosting along at 2 knots for an hour, I bowed to the
inevitable and turned on the engine
at The outlook for the rest of this leg is
mostly for light and variable winds with a little sailing and a lot of motoring.
Let’s hope the diesel holds out. We
are doing much more motoring than I would like but under the circumstances we
have little choice as we are so late.
