Sunny mild morning.  Steve gives a part of our passarelle which was bent in Rio by the surge in the harbour, to one of the engineers here and in a matter of minutes he has put it in a big press and straightened it out.  I organize a water delivery and they promise to fix the electricity which isn’t currently working.  (Sorry for that). We also organized an all day outing tomorrow which will take us to Volunteer Point, a major king penguin colony.

PELAGIC hangs 3 carcasses in their fridge (see photo), they are directly downwind of some sand blasting and I wonder if the carcasses with start to rust from the little bits of metal flying their way. Fortunately there aren’t many flies about in this climate.

There is also a picture of our new extremely second hand fisherman’s anchor, and a second after it had been sand blasted, with the painting crew at work.  In one of the anchor snaps you can see one of our garden hose reels adapted to carry long lines.  We’ve got about 80 metres on this one and there will be four reels for securing the boat in Antarctica and in the Chilean Canals.  Unfortunately we will have to remove the wheels and screw the frames to the deck and when we’re through with them plug the screw holes.

And while we were walking about I saw a field with its own ensuite bath.
