Distance to home:  1431 miles

Distance run today:  101 miles

Course 070

Loads of wind reported your side.  Very little here and we have nearly run out of beans so this is unlikely to change today.

Domestic

Reading or listening to podcasts and music filled our day yesterday.  The weather was manky and the boat sailed herself so we kept out the way.

We ate sushi on the day of the catch but baked tuna was on the menu yesterday evening (and for a few more to come) – it’s hard to beat.

Sailing

Yesterday we just strapped everything down tight and held on.

Today we have light and variable winds and still have the sea running as a result of yesterdays blow.  It’s a bit frustrating and we are having to make endless adjustments to sails, rig and steering but we are still making progress.

Natural History

Whales again! Our third, biggest and best sighting yet!   This was a monster at 40 - 60 feet and much closer.  We got a great look at the 2 fins (one white) and a big black tail as the whale appeared off the stern and was tracked round to our port beam blowing and surfacing occasionally over 15 minutes.

Today’s responses

Em – glad you are running again and kids all back at school.

Dave P – Bloody hell on keel story.  Vodka cheap and bought for the job, not fit for human consumption.  Priest better !

Dave S – We will go with blackfin then.  Very large fins on either side, much bigger than previous tuna if that helps.

Bye for now
