Distance run today:  112 miles

Course 075

A grim night in thick fog and heavy traffic.

Sailing

We are off Dartmouth and making good progress. Expecting to be south of the Isle of Wight by this time tomorrow as we are now going to cross Lyme Bay and give the Portland Race a wide berth.

It was a horrible night last night with really thick fog.  At one point when Tim and Jez were moving the spinnaker pole visibility was so bad we could barely see the masthead light and there was thick fishing and commercial traffic off Falmouth.  We relied on the AIS to see and be seen,  and spoke to individual ships as they passed close.

The fog lifted during Wills’ watch and by 6am we had sparkling weather.

Today’s Responses

Dave P – No joy.  We will sort it once back in Tollesbury.

Sam C – RIP Arnie but you know it makes sense.  We are down to basic food here, I don’t think you’d like it.  But my next roast dinner is going to taste fabulous.

Bye for now
