Day 42

Distance to home:
299 miles Distance run
today: 125 miles Course
095 Landfall
! We are just south of the
Bishop Rock on the Scilly’s and we have spoken to some of you as we had a signal
for a while Domestic We ran out of tea
today. Coffee is a poor substitute
but we have lots of it… Food supplies will hold
out till we are home but the days of grabbing something you fancy are gone as
Will has earmarked everything for a particular meal and lunches have turned into
a lucky dip as we are eating from tins with no labels. No disasters so
far. Sailing Yesterday was a perfect
sailing day. Broad reach through the
day at 6 knots in a calm sea and then as the wind moved westerly
overnight. We crossed sole bank last
night under mainsail and spinnaker.
It was awash with Spanish trawlers – it’s a miracle that there are any
fish left in the sea. The traffic
kept us busy and largely in the cockpit but at least it was
warmer. We have also had thick
fog with visibility down to 100m for the morning but is burning and there is a
hint of sunshine in the air. Falmouth coastguard have
just given the forecast and we have out westerly today moving to NW 5 – 6,
occasionally 3 all day tomorrow – also perfect. Finally, we are flying
our Q flag with pride !
Natural
History Lots of Gannets,
Kittiwakes and the odd Swallow. And
one more Fulmar (thanks Dave – they still look like a pigeon to us
.) Today’s
Responses Gran – Thanks for the
cricket update Em – stop running till I
get back, I’ll never keep up. And
lots more miles done. Bye for now
