Distance to home:  644 miles

Distance run today:  127 miles

Course 090

Making the most of our weather.

It’s cold, it’s cloudy but we have 20 knots of North-North-Easterly which will do for us.

Domestic

We are doing the basics and hanging on.  It’s windy enough to kick up a big sea and Sadie is leaping from crest to crest.

Sleeping was a bit hit and miss last night, especially in the forward bunk so there is a degree of catching up going on at present. There was also too much movement for cards yesterday evening so Jez retains his narrow lead for now and Tim was denied the opportunity to continue his winning streak.

After some mixed fortune over the last couple of weeks, we have decided to call on some spiritual help and after a short ceremony in the cockpit, Tim poured a generous helping of drink over the side for Neptune, not that we are superstitious or anything…

Sailing

The wind got up to 25 knots overnight from the NE and we reefed progressively before ending up close hauled with a triple reefed main and about 1/3 of the jib out.  It’s all a bit fast and furious and we are slamming regularly as we fall off a wave but after too many days of light airs then this is sailing heaven.

Natural History

Gray and cold with a bit of drizzle and a rough sea.  Aside from the birds (we are seeing more gannets), then whatever is out there is well hidden.

Today’s Responses

Emma – Thanks.  Not expecting more than 7 days but working on principal of “hoping for the best and planning for the worst”. Text on Saturday activities with kids takes the breath away

Dave S – Not sure about feral, at least we are all in the same state – might be interesting to see the _expression_ of whoever visits us first on arrival.  Don’t expect to have time allocated for rehab.  More likely to be issued with task list whilst Em applies herself to a gallon of red wine.

Ta for help via the beast – will sort details when closer if required.

Joe – GOOD JOB

Lizzie – that could be an Olympic sport soon.

Frank – Thanks.  All welcome and happy enough here.  May call re mooring / tow as required.  Tell Woody that he needs to get some instruction on technology from his kids.

Dave P – Not an ex-banker until 19th June !  Very sure it was a whale, we were on top of it.  We think a Blue.  At the risk of being insensitive over Cariad, is your mooring free for a couple of weeks ?  I know a boat that could do with somewhere to sit before going onto it’s mudberth.

Drink sounds good – need to balance with time back with Emma / kids so may need to wait

Richard – Thanks for updates and whale type! 250 is a good two days for us, glad its sunny and keep the wind there!

Gran (Jen) – Thanks Gran, was hoping that wasn’t going to happen till I was back (balloons over London) but I’m sure there will be some good photos as the day sounded ideal from what you said. See you soon xxxx

Mum (Jan) – Thanks for letting me know about Student Finance, whoops, looks like I’m back in debt… Have you had any issues using the TV or have you mastered it now? August sounds fun, I’m back on the 2nd but don’t worry about me, will keep busy and Tom will be back then. I was going to ask if you have seen Alex before, glad all is well, who calls their dogs David & Duncan! LOL! Love it! Hope no issues with your MOT, do we know when Auntie Sue is back yet? Have you found any shelving for partitioning in the Annex yet? Are you just using the old kitchen table? Loads of Love xxx

Bye for now
