After two days on a broad reach Flamingo Lady
reached Penzance at 04:20UT Monday 3 August. This was just after the Dock
lock gate closed and about half an hour before the rain and drizzle
arrived.
We had a excellent last day, sunny to start with
cloud building over the day. At about 20:15 we got sight of the Bishops
Rock Light then the Scilly's and St Mary's light.
We had during the day worked north of the TSS
(traffic separation schema so the shipping was not to much of a problem until we
were past the Scillys and crossing south of the Lands End TSS. Then
we were in familiar territory for Simon his home racing ground, and a fast reach
into Mounts Bay in the dark looking for the Harbour in Penzance that is
unlit except for the entry lights.
A few hours on the waiting buoy in weather so poor
no one was passing to deliver a bacon butty from the shore, then the dock opened
at 14:20 and we arrived to a reception party of about 20 people to welcome
us back from the Atlantic Adventure with champagne. Thanks to
everyone who came to meet us, it is so nice to be greeted in this way, it makes
the home coming special.
Great to be back in the UK.
Back to work for a week or so and then taking the
boat back to her home port of Lymington later in the
month.
