Dear all
On the 28th it was a certain persons birthday and great celebrations were planned--smoked oysters for starters(compliments of a very kind Mr K ) together with a very nice bottle of champagne.Sailors plans are usually made in sand and so proved to be the case.
Incredibly at a time when we should be picking up the Trade Winds we have a strong south westerly coming from exactly where we are supposed to be going. For those at home the fleet viewer should reveal some interesting changes in direction !
I"m sure we are not alone in the difficulties we experiencing. The last 36 hours have very unstable on board much wind and big seas.It is virtually impossible to cook and yesterday each crew member looked after themselves it was a biscuit and water day.
During the night it was very dark with rain but we managed to sail with reefed sails right through making just 30 miles headway in 12 hours. The Atlantic experience is proving to be everything I imagined and an experience to saviour.Everybody is hoping for more favourable winds soon but we think this unlikely.
It was great to hear the cricket news but sorry to hear the Supper Rams faltered slightly.

With best regards to all,

D.J.C.
