50:02.04N 01:09.08E Dear Family and Friends, we have completed turnover,
gear storage, and provisioning...the weather has improved from atrocious (30
knot winds, rain, and 3 episodes of hail) to "not great", so we are casting
off. We are thrilled with our new Oyster 575, the new "Arbella"! We are
leaving Ipswich in the UK on the North Sea side of the English Channel. We
are heading directly to the Channel Islands (off the coast of France), and
will put in to either Guernsey or Alderney, depending on conditions. The
intrepid crew includes, Mike (captain), Vicki (navigator), and Will (top
notch first mate). We will sail about 30 hours, through the night, around
Dover and down the English Channel, arriving Friday night. The upcoming
weather after Friday is for 35-50 knots of wind, and we want to put in
before that hits! We will keep you posted...more to come! Mike
