It's not all work!

Although the intensity has been strong as Scott, Cap, and I work on a variety of things...spare parts, stowage, safety inspection preparations, ARC stuff, provisioning, etc....we did find some time to relax and take in the culture.  Today, we slipped off to the house of Columbus, "Casa de Colon"...the boat interior is a replicate of the "captain's cabin" for Columbus on the Nina, when he returned on his first voyage (the Santa Maria sank on the return, and only the Nina and the Pinta returned...both shown in pictures....small ships!!).  Then we went hunting for a "sangria pitcher" for Vicki, making 4 stops, and 3 hours with nothing....the last cab driver, speaking no English, seemed to understand what we wanted, so we went on a 20 minute cab ride, only to realize that he was taking us to "the place with the best sangria in Las Palmas".....we said we just wanted the "pitcher".  We laughed, and said to ourselves, after all this, let's get out of the cab, and have some of "the best sangria in Las Palmas"!  It was really great....but, how ironic....the restaurant was Casa Carmelo (Vicki's grandfather, born in Madrid, was Carmelo), and right next door was the "Real Club Victoria" (Royal Club Victoria....all on the beach!  Great fun in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria!
