Cruising Fiji - Vanua Levu
14 June - 23 June 2024 Next stop was the beautiful Bay of Islands - there are lots of Bays of Islands in the Pacific, but this was Fiji’s version and it was breathtaking. We had to be quite brave working our way into Ship’s Sound, past reefs and bommies lurking below the surface. Fellow World Arc boats were there already and we were joined by Serendipity IV. Beautiful snorkelling right next to the boat and Patrick managed to get the Go Pro out taking some fab pictures. Exactly like swimming in an aquarium. We then pottered onto Savasava, one of the main villages on Vanua Levu, and took a mooring opposite the Copra Shed Marina. Next night was Voli Voli - a resort hotel which gave us another ‘Fiji Feast’ together with local dancing, then creeping through the reefs and coral to Cocoanut Point, Vati Wharf and finally to Denerau Marina, on Viti Levu. We have been on a bit of a mission as we have a problem with one of our alternators, so needed to get to a major centre to find a Volvo Penta repair ![]() |
