Saturday 20th April to Monday 22 April

Rangiroa to Tahiti - 200 NM sail, 2 nights and 3 days via Makatea.  Had a pretty lumpy bumpy sail with winds up to 35 knots in the thunder storm on Sunday night.  Constant rain and it felt like the English Channel except for the lightning which felt very much like the Pacific. 2 hours on and 6 hours off for the 4 crew.  3 Reefs and the staysail.  Still Jean and Didi were great and the boat’s food was delicious as ever.  In bouncing seas Jean had cooked rack of lamb with vegetables which he served off the bone and in a bowl so we could eat it with a spoon.  Landfall was on Monday morning and we saw the iconic Mt Avorai looming over the horizon just after dawn.  Tied up in Marina Taina, just south of Papeete.
