A wonderful sail from Selvagem Grande to Las Palmas with Peter, Karina and Rupert - 127 NM. It was so good to have broken up the journey with our stay in the SG. We set off around 10.00 am and sailed through the night arriving around 7.30 - actually we had
to slow up as we didn’t want to arrive in the dark. Wind pretty consistently from the NE 10-15 knots. Our watch system was 2 hours on 6 hours off which was very easy.
Las Palmas is a big port, requiring you to report to Port Control on Ch 12 - quite a contrast from whisky with the wardens at Selvagem. We tied up to the fuel berth, then moved to the reception berth and finally to a very tight squeeze of a berth,
stuck between two German boats, one with a large black cat.
Rupert left us here, and Peter and Carina escaped to stay in a nearby 5* hotel that afternoon. We met up later for a delicious Argentine meat inspired dinner - we have eaten so much fish… and then again the following night, visiting old town
Las Palmas which was gorgeous, so elegant and so empty. Where are the tourists?
Patrick and I are now holed up in Las Palmas Marina - about to embark on our diving course.
