Nuku Hiva is the largest of the islands with a generous anchorage. Most of the World Arc had assembled for a Rendezvous. Big crew change for Nusquama as Françoise, then Jules left us and Susannah rejoined. Jean and Françoise cooked an amazing farewell supper of spaghetti carbonara (no cream!) and chocolate mousse for which they bought a whisk - just chocolate and eggs.
The Community and Mayor put on a wonderful fiesta for all the crews. In the afternoon having been garlanded with fragrant leis, we were treated to demonstrations of jewellery making, bread fruit preparation, dancing displays, along with wonderful array of local fruits and coconuts to drink. Following prize giving, dinner of the ubiquitous kid and cochon cooked underground with poisson cru was followed by a dance spectacular. We all had to have a go. Fire eating and more dancing wound up the evening.
