Wonderful welcome from Fergus of World Arc - checked in at the hotel with beers and delicious poisson cru for lunch. Priorities were then laundry and re-provisioning with a further trip to the Gendarmerie. Rented a car to drive across the Island in search of the Tikis, Polynesian sacred statues, some of the best in the Marquesas. Had a wonderful set lunch in a tiny restaurant of kid, cochon and more poisson cru followed by a delightful swim in the bay. We ferreted out the ‘Smiling Tiki’ on our way back to the boat.
Jean’s wife Françoise arrived after a gruelling three-day journey from Paris and we set off immediately for the next door island of Tahuatu to the Bay of Hanamoenoa.
