Voyage of Wanderingstar

I should like to announce the new arrival of Wandering Star at Horta Faial at approx 14.45 local time on the 10 May 2018. Both Wandering Star and skipper are doing well and are currently resting. Weight 6.2 tons. The skipper's cravings for Fray Bentos pies has  ceased for the time being and has been replaced for a desire for a gin and tonic and a big steak.

I can share with you now, 10 hours after leaving Antigua I nearly threw the towel in and turned back. Some inner voice kept me going. This leg was a tough one because I knew there was no hiding place. When I left Antigua I had weather fcst for 14 days, which put me mid Atlantic. If things go wrong, there is no place to run to and no place to hide, certainly in a boat my size. In the trade winds you have a level of certainty and security.

Thankfully, for next and last leg, I should be able to get some good weather fcst for the majority of the journey home before I leave.

All for now….I'm off for that gin and tonic…:-)
