Getting through my job in readiness for return journey and closely monitoring the North Atlantic weather. There’s a good chance of a departure at the later part of next week, but if not certainly the week after. I have repositioned the extra fuel tanks which will make the transfer to the main tank at lot easier. I expect the journey to the Azores to be a continual balance between keeping out of the northerly storms and the frustrations of doldrums associated with the Azores high which is starting to take hold - hence the extra fuel - I’ve got an extra 100 litres (60 in the cockpit and a further 40 litres on the foredeck) which compares with an extra 40 litres for the journey out. The main tank holds 150 litres which provides about 350 miles motoring…and I’ve added and additional 100 litres which will provide for an extra 230 miles so a total motoring of about 500 miles if necessary. Total journey to Azores approx 2200 to 2500 miles depending how far north I end up travelling. All the best Ben ![]() ![]() . |
