Hello, Happy Tuesday and I understand there has been some snow in the uk…..typical the one year I’m not there for Christmas and its a white one. It was 85 in the shade here yesterday.

I'm so close but still so far, I’m being tested, there is little wind (between 5 and 10 knots and thats actual not apparent) so I’m managing my sails and fuel and motor sailing. I check fuel every 3 hours as I need to be able to motor into Antigua as there are reefs that need to be avoided.

On top of that I picked up from a pilot to Antigua reference that:  ‘at night in the region beware of small fishing vessels which seldom show navigation lights and may be completely un-lit. Any lights that are displayed are unlikely to be in accordance with international regulations. So the for next 48 hours I need to keep alert and will be on deck throughout. Hopefully tomorrow will be my last full day at sea and all being well I expect to reach land-fall on Wednesday.

I've received words of encouragement from Donald Trump and David Brent during this final phase. Trump called me up on the sat phone and I had a bit of locker room banter with him and he told me a few jokes which to be honest I found quite revolting, I just hope he washes his hands. David Brent was great and has asked that I make contact with him on my return as he has an opportunity for me as assistant to the assistant of the assistant office manager so its up and up for me...
