Hello there,

Not much to report, pic below is a ship that passed me earlier this morning. They’re buggers sometimes because I picked him up on my AIS system, actually I happened to be out in the cockpit and saw him, just a dot on the horizon, before the AIS warning kicked in. Over the next 20 minutes it was clear that he was on a collision course so in readiness I fired up the engine in case there was a need for a quick course alteration. Eventually I used radio to let them know I was here and for them to confirm they had visibility. I didn’t get a reply but did notice a course change from the big boy. Would not it have been easier for me to change course? Not in this instance because I was unsure of his intentions, if I moved to let him pass on my port side or across bow, he might have been making plans to cross me on the stbd side and it can confuse. My guess is it was a non English speaking crew with minimal watch. Passed me less than 1/2 mile away.

Any how it allowed me to get a good picture.

You should be able to tell from my new position my intentions to progress north for the time being.

All for now
Ben
