Good morning

There was no blog yesterday as the skipper couldn’t be arsed. But new day and the skipper has his arse in gear today.

Lovely morning here and last night brought some fresher winds. They kicked in at about 2 am last night and I spent an hour or so re-setting the sails. I now have the main tucked away and the front about 4/5 which I have found ideal for a down wind run. The pic below is me comparing the wind fcst with the chart positioning. I realised that I had no means to identify correctly my position on the weather map particularly as I progress day by day so I use a piece of string and blu-tack on the screen to allow me to transpose my position from the chart onto the weather map. I’m particularly interested in some very strong winds entering the Iberian basin on Wednesday. I'm hopeful that these fresher winds will carry me ahead of the stronger winds which look like they will hit around Wednesday by which time I should be at Santa Cruz marina.  My eta La Palma is Tuesday night early wed morning but I expect to improve this maybe 12 hours looking at the most recent fcst.

At day break a massive super yacht came out from nowhere and my alarm went off warning me of collision so up in a flash with only my pants on I was on deck altering course. Then about half a mile from me the bugger slowed down to a stand still and had a good old look at me and my boat. Probably some footballer or drug dealer. I was too slow to put my gorilla suit on so an opportunity lost. On the other hand maybe they thought I looked like a gorilla without the need for a suit.

Aye for now...
