36:38.46N 28:51.83E Here we are again back in Gocek, Turkey, after 10 days in the UK.  It was certainly the right decision to get out of Israel when we did, as matters only got worse. We also took the right choice to get out of Cardiff, as it rained everyday and on one day we got a month’s rain in a matter of hours. This we exchanged for wall to wall blue sky with highs in the mid 90’s! This is the start of our family time here in the Gocek area and eventually progressing to the Greek Cyclades. Our first crew was our grandson Alistair and his friend Freddie. They provided the muscle and the running around for the first week. We spent the week exploring bays and we found some real gems, with clear still waters and steep pine-clad slopes merging up into cobalt blue skies. Usually we managed to anchor 20 to 30 yards out with a line ashore. The swimming and snorkelling is amazing in the refreshing waters with a background chorus from millions of crickets punctuated by goat bells and the odd donkey calling for a mate. There are lots restaurants tucked away in isolated spots but provisioning out here isn’t a problem as the numerous bays are visited by a floating supermarket, which has an unbelievable range of foods and of course drink. Fresh bread is also delivered by another entrepreneur on a tiny boat and of course the Ben & Jerry ice-cream boatman, who seems to find us wherever we’re parked. Our competent crew left late Sunday and we’ll miss them but our main task now is a major clean up and get the boat shipshape before our next crew arrive on Wednesday for almost 3 weeks.  We’ll try to keep some kind of a weekly blog going as we hope to go further south and do some new exploring with them.
