At last we have started our new sailing season in Turkey and have spent some time based in Yalikavak, getting both Sonsy Lass and ourselves up to speed. We now consider we have our sea legs and have embarked on a sail south down the Turkish coast to Gocek, some 150 miles in the Med. Our intention is to take in some Greek Islands on the way back north.
Our first overnight anchorage was at Knidos, which is extremely historical with an amazing amphi-theatre. The following day we came further south in fairly light winds and flat calm seas to an even more beautiful little bay, called Buzuk Buzu. We managed a place on the restaurant's jetty which sits right under a Byzantium Citadel, again deserted. The ruins are all over the place and nobody seems to notice. Anyway we took a strenuous walk up to the top and got a fantactic view of the Agean and our little bay. Off to have some real Turkish food.
