Made a good clearance fro Capt Nemo's at Thursday first light. This is a indeed a very special place made more awesome when the sun is just rising over the mountains and the smell from the foliage is incredible. The bulk of the journey south was a 6 hour sail across the bay of Marmaris. In fact sail is a bit of a misnomer, as we only had light winds but a huge roly-poly sea, so it was on with the the engine, set the George, the autopilot, pump up the stereo and relax - nothing too demanding! On turning into Fethiye Bay, we had glass smooth seas and a spectacular sight of turquoise water and the snow capped Taurus mountains . Awesome. The bay itself is littered with small islands with great bays for anchoring and swimming. The grandkids just love it here. We joined the rally in officially in late afternoon and attended the first of many cocktail parties. This gave us the chance to meet up with other participants, from all over the globe. We had to go easy on the contails as we had an early start this morning to get us to Kas, which is ion the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The wind were fickle until we had to dock, then they got up with gusto - they saw us coming in! Mooring stern too, back end in first, is never easy in the best of times but challenging in brisk wind conditions. still we didn't hit any other boat.. Sonsy Lass is dressed according to rally traditions, flags top to bottom. Tonight is a free night so we're settling for a few glasses of wine on the poop deck deck.
