To the Channel Islands

The Intrepid Trio decamped for a sojourn in the Channel Islands.

 

Setting off in the afternoon in relatively light airs, a forecast 16-18 knots W or WNW developed into 30kts by the time it was dark. This provided the crew with plenty of exercise and Bob with a good 30 minutes on the foredeck unraveling the mother of all wraps between/in the staysail sheets. I have seen sheets wrapping around each other when the sail flogs, but nothing like that.  

 

Overnight in Alderney then on to Jersey, where Bob’s sister’s family briefly came aboard before entertaining Bob for the evening.  We spent the following day restowing the boat and have now largely eliminated the list. With full tanks we think it will be OK.

 

Then on to Guernsey ….
