Well the good bits of our crossing from Lagos to Porto Santo, part of the Madeira group, were that we saw three brown turtles purposefully swimming NE, a small pod of dolphins, and we were sailing very fast; managed 182M in 24 hours. The bad bits were that it was terribly rough, obviously due to the gales in St Vincent further north: However non of the weather services thought it was to be anything like we got. They predicted F4 reducing 3 and 2m swell reducing. The wind actually was never less than F6 and 7/8 on the first night and second day: and the swell big and very confused. It could be described as a lively boat motion.

We are anchored at present, as we arrived in the dark this morning: Seems to be a very interesting island, so we will probably go into the harbour on Monday and do some exploration. Plenty of hills to work on here.

Further update with photos once we recover and if we can get a connection!

PS we were just wondering if the swimming crabs were actually baby turtles ....... any ideas?
