The good luck we should have received for saving the fisherman has not materialised yet: We arrived safely at Vilano do Castelo, and when checking the engine found a split water seal; that was Friday 13th!!!! Well we could give you the long story but we now have parts winging there way from UK and Porto (in theory) we will know tomorrow when both are due to arrive!

We are quite content here as it is a lovely place to be stuck, a beautiful old town, with temples at the top of mountains for Christine to rush up! (1400 steps,700 up 700 down; photo with next blog, we did not expect to get a connection, so unprepared)

The photos we have for your delectation today, graphically show the hardships of life before the mast in rigorous southern climes.

Foredeck action.
Precision sail trimming.
Flag change in harsh weather.
The skipper at the con.
