Las Palmas to Rubicon, Lanzarote
Mandalay
Robin & Jenny Martin

T & W's first day was to relax, orientate themselves with Maymio, the marina and the Sailors Bar.
The next day was for jobs to be done - see photos.
The third day it was decided we would to put to sea. The forecast was for light airs from the N - N/E but we thought we'd give it a go. To keep all options open Robbie and Tony sorted out the necessary paperwork with the Port authority, should we ever get to Morocco. Wilf got a Moroccan courtesy flag and the drinking water and Jen, whilst communicating at the Sailor's Bar, found an old photocopied chart of the Moroccan coast. Now we were ready.
21.10.10. 1445h. Left Las Palmas, but wind too light to sail, so motored until 8.30pm when we were able to make 5 knots in 9kt N.E. breeze, until it died again at 1am. Four more hours of no wind until Wilf's watch when we could sail again - slowly. The prospect of another day motoring didn't really appeal, so the course was changed for Rubicon for Friday night. Two hours from our destination, Sod's law stepped in and the wind picked up to15 kts. This gave us the opportunity to show T & W what Maymio could really do.
All secured on pontoon G, neat tidy and showered by dusk. Pasta supper at one of the many marina restaurants and a deserved early night. The team is shaping up nicely.
Trip - First 24hrs 125miles. Total trip 152 miles.
