Here are a few pics from our spring in NZ.  Most of these pictures were taken when the sun was
shining but in truth it has been a terrible spring with far too much wind and rain.  Thankfully
the forecast is looking better for Christmas week and the whole crew is excited about a visit to the
bright lights of Auckland!

Lucy always enjoys the bit at the start of the season getting the boat ready.

We had a set of new sails being made by Doyle when I had my accident back in January.
We finally got to sail with them in late October.  Lucy admiring the shape and radial cut
of the new HydraNet sails.

First dive of the season in my 8 mm wet suit, boots, gloves, hood, the works.......
I am glad I was wearing it all!  I am smiling not only because I have a catch bag
full of scallops but also because now I can get back out of the freezing water.

Braving the waters so early in the season meant it wasn’t too hard to collect my
quota of scallops.  There is a “good feed” here as the Kiwis would say!

When not living off the sea, we are quite happy to pay for it!!  The long Sunday lunch at
Poderi Crisci on Waiheke Island was a real treat.

Back to the good life, I maybe smiling as if I have caught something, but
sadly the smile is purely for the camera.

We ventured up the Mahurangi River at high tide to the lovely town of Warkworth
for supplies and a decent cappuccino.

Heading into Auckland for Christmas.  Lucy is looking fit and strong in this picture but has been struggling
with a hip injury for a couple of months. It has been quite limiting given how active she normally is and we
have decided to stay in NZ for an extra month so she can have keyhole surgery to hopefully fix it.

Not a bad spot right in the heart of Auckland, there are at least 15 bars and restaurants within
100 metres of our berth, so it won’t be very peaceful at night.  We have decided if we can’t beat
them we will have to join them!

“Happy Christmas” from the skipper.......
