We have been chastised by a few people for not including enough photos in our recent blog posts so here are a few to give a feel of this part of the world.

 

This is the bay on Mayreau where I am putting this email together. The island in the background is Union Island in St Vincent, Grenadines.

To the left in the distance in the haze is Carriacou, the northernmost Island of Grenada.

 

 

This is the view over the top of the hill from above our anchorage looking east out over Tobago Cays.  We have just spent

a couple of days anchored out between the two islands to the left with just the semi-submerged reef to keep out the ocean swell.

Sidney, one of the local "boat boys" in his brightly painted water taxi.  They sell fish and lobsters, fresh bread, T-shirts

and will try to get hold of pretty much anything else you may want.  Although times are tough for these guys they seem

to be a lot more smiley and a less pushy than we remembered (or maybe we have just got a great deal more relaxed!) 

They have also figured out they get a much better reception if they come alongside with a huge set of fenders rather than leaving

a stripe of their extravagant paintwork down the side of the yacht.

part of his marketing technique!

 

Tramping around Bequia (pronounced Bek-way) we came across this beautiful coconut

plantation leading down to a deserted windward beach.

. 

 

Heading up the mast to change the anchor light bulb.  I enjoy the view from the top

but it is quite a lot of prime British beef for Lucy to wind 65 feet up into the air. 

 

The fresh baguette on the waterfront in Les Isles des Saintes.  Guadeloupe is another spectacular example of French civilisation

in the Caribbean and as a fully fledged "Department" of France it is just as much part of the EU as Birmingham or even Brussels 

 

Lucy puts the finishing touches to "Spot Too".  We have got in to the habit of putting brightly coloured spots on our

dinghy to make him uniquely recognisable and easy to well....spot (in addition to being slightly less attractive we hope

to any light fingered locals or over-refreshed charter guests).
