The time has come to write the closing entry for this particular web diary.
Savoir Vivre now has new owners and a new home from which to continue her
adventures. She has not retired but is now based out of Noumea and is home
to a French family who are living on board who have plans to explore
the area.
The last three years of life as sea gypsies has been very special, so much
so that over the last 18 months Lucy and I have shared a growing conviction that
we wanted to extend our cruising plans. When we moved on board at the beginning
of 2004, we planned a few years afloat to scratch my very personal long term
itch to sail across some oceans and spend a few years afloat. Over
time Lucy has grown to love it almost as much as I did from day
one and during last year's wonderful cruise from New Zealand through Fiji,
Vanuatu and eventually on to New Caledonia we gradually come to the conclusion
that if we were going to commit to several more years afloat then we would, if
possible, like to make a small upgrade to our house! Savoir Vivre has been
wonderful to us and we will never forget her but have decided there are a few
extra creature comforts we would like to surround ourselves with if we
can.
We put Savoir Vivre on the market in Noumea over the cyclone season and
finally concluded the sale just a few weeks ago. In the meantime I have
spent many hours looking and thinking about boats and are making good progress
towards what I had secretly termed FBP (the Future Boat Project). We are
heading off to Fort Lauderdale in the US at the start of June with some pretty
specific ideas about what is next.
If we have important news of developments, I will of course post them here
and I am hoping it will not be too long before I commence a new web diary.
We wish Savoir Vivre and her new keepers all the best for the future and wish
them many many happy miles together. Cruisers please keep your eyes open
for her and any news of sightings will be much appreciated.
To wrap things up here are three of our favourite photos of Savoir Vivre
doing what she does best!
Thundering across the Pacific eating up the miles
towards the Tuamotus.
