Savoir Vivre has a new crew member on board! My mother, Pat, has
joined us for a few weeks to check up on what we are up to in this
distant corner of paradise. In anticipation of her arrival we spent a
busy week cleaning, polishing and generally getting things shipshape.
In the wonderful Nandi market we stocked up with lots of fresh fruit and
vegetables and even went as far as buying some wine in bottles, rather
than the usual plastic! Picking up visitors is always exciting, not
only because it is nice to see them but also because it means the arrival
of English newspapers, magazines, post and usually about half a suitcase of
spares parts.
Having welcomed her (and read the Sunday Telegraph from cover to
cover) we set off from the mainland for Musket Cove which has become a kind of
home from home for us and a wonderful base for exploring the islands. From
there we are now on our way back up the Yasawas and are anchored in
Navandra which has the best snorkelling we have seen in this part of the
Pacific. On our last visit we spent quite a lot of time watching two
resident turtles so I hope we can track them down again before the little
friendly white tip reef shark scares Mum out of the
water!
