After an amazing year crossing the Pacific we have now packed up for the
season and are heading back to the chilly northern hemisphere for
Christmas and much of the winter. We hauled Savoir Vivre out of the water
at Gulf Harbour on the top side of the Hauraki Gulf just north of
Auckland. She deserves a good rest and has been getting a bit of love and
attention sitting in a cradle in the middle of the hardstanding surrounded
by a busy and efficient boatyard.

We managed to have a good look around the North Island (mainly by car!)
and when we return next year the plan is to get ourselves down to (as we
keep being told) the even more beautiful and even less crowded South
Island. The Kiwis have been wonderfully welcoming and we were almost
overwhelmed by the hospitality from the moment we arrived.

Heathrow welcomed us back with a blast of miserable wet and windy weather
which was a nasty shock after spending most of the last two years in the
tropics. It is however very exciting to be home and catching up with
family and friends. We will be signing off from the website until April
2007 but we have many exciting plans for next year with Fiji, Vanuatu and
New Caledonia to look forward to when we point our bows back out into the
Pacific. In the meantime we are relishing the endless hot water, fluffy
white towels and sleeping in a bed that doesn't move at night!
