Saturday night as we cruised south along the south west coast of Portugal we passed the 1,000 mile mark, now that’s a lot is sailing. And to mark the occasion we got a special half sunrise. When we rounded the corner and started heading east we had a few weather changes, the seas eased and the 15 knot wind was finally on our beam rather than our stern, looked like some champagne sailing for the last 15 miles to Largos, then we hit the sea mist at the headland which at one point had visibility down to metres, (sorry no photo of that) thank you Sir Robert Alexander Watson Watt. And finally the mist cleared the sun came out and the wind dropped to 2 knots so we motored the final stretch in beautiful calm sunny conditions with a few dolphins of course. We arrived in Largos to find that as part of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) we got a free night at the marina so we did a few jobs and celebrated with a beer And of course, a bosuns work is never done. ** Please excuse iPhone brevity ** |
