Darkest midnight with a large tanker heading straight at us we picked up a rather large abandoned fishing net around our starboard propeller, which cut out the starboard engine and rendered us unable to steer. A quick radio call to the Tanker to inform him of out predicament and he agreed to divert to avoid us. Then another radio call with Falmouth Coastguard who overheard our previous transmission. we then set about dragging the net back on board, it took four off us twenty minutes but we did it. We didn't want to cut it free in case someone else got caught so we had no choice but to pull it on board. We let the coastguard know we were underway on one engine and continued on our way with one engine.
When we got to Falmouth we anchored in St Mawes and "Diver Kieron" braved the cold water and released it from the propeller.
Then across to Falmouth for the night before setting off again at 5:00 am on Saturday.
