Race Day

It’s race day! Time to take a quick stroll round the harbour to view the
competition and catch up with some of our fellow sailors.
![]() Looking good in our Moose tops. A boy band perhaps?!
![]() Before our departure, there’s a send-off by the local Spanish band, very
rousing! You’ll notice the professionally prepared rod in background – I think
we may be on a fishing trip. Perhaps Rik has conned us all?
![]() Then we leave the harbour in our 10m boat, via a 12m gap!
![]() We head out to the open sea and at 12.30 the multihulls are off and flying.
Well, not quite flying because the winds are light to start with, but after a
few hours we start to gather pace, as we goose-wing under spinnaker and
mainsail.
![]() We’re passed by a Kiwi boat, clearly under motor!
![]() And as day turns into night, we enjoy a great sunset, followed by a
wonderful meal cooked by Rose.
![]() It’s been an exciting first day. We got up to fourth place in the
multihulls, after taking a direct route, close to shore. But the highlight of
the day, must have been by Rose and Guy, who spotted a hammerhead shark next to
the boat!
