Just a brief blog tonight because it’s been a tough day dealing with
squalls and cleaning the boat, in preparation for our arrival tomorrow, so we’re
all tired.
There was a spectacular start today with a beautiful sunrise.
This was followed by the arrival of a pod of young and slightly timid
dolphins, probably on their way to school! We never tire of seeing them.
The morning was fairly quiet, as we lounged around at the bow of the boat
and soaked up a bit of sunshine.
The afternoon saw Moose’s crew hard at work cleaning the boat, ready for
our arrival in Rodney Bay tomorrow. Then came the squalls and lots of them. Most
of these we avoided, although even their outer edges were powerful, with wind
speeds increasing from 11 to 25 knots and the apparent wind angle shifting
nearly 60 degrees.
Along with the squalls came rainbows and dark skies, as per this pic of a
squall on the horizon at sunset.
The day was rounded off preparing our rigging for a last night of sailing
in potentially difficult conditions, then followed by an excellent chicken
curry, cooked by Rose.
Currently we’re sailing at around 9 knots in winds of about 18 knots, but
tonight’s going to be a bumpy ride, with the swell increasing to 3 metres in the
next few hours. There’ll also be squalls to contend with, but we’ll hold on
tight and should see land by about 10am in the morning.
Now off to bed, apart from those on watch duty of course.
Night, night from the crew of Moose.
