After a quite day, with lighter winds slowing our passage and wondering what we might be able to blog about, we finally managed to land a big fish. A 9.6kg Mahi Mahi to be precise. At last we can stop talking about the one that got away!

 

Dickie had the honour of bringing the fish in, Guy of gaffing and filleting, then Rose of preparing and cooking. A wonderful meal was enjoyed by all last night, washed down with a delicious bottle of Mount Nelson Sauvignon Blanc, to celebrate both the catching of the fish and nearly reaching the half-way mark of our journey.

 

 

 

Still on fishing, Guy decided to put the remains of the Mahi Mahi on to one of the lines, in hope of catching an even bigger fish. No luck, but on reeling the line back in before dark, it appeared that a shark had tidily removed over half of it!

 

 

The main bit of ‘work’ undertaken yesterday involved Rik and Guy doing rewiring jobs on the boat. Something about improving WiFi in port, but right now that’s a bit lost on us.

 

 

Most of yesterday’s sailing involved running down wind and we successfully managed to goose-wing our gennaker and genoa, to maximise our speed. Last night we were running 7th in the multihulls and 39th overall.

Finally, a message from Guy & Roseanna with Ted, the travelling bear. >From not far off the centre of the Atlantic Tomorrow Ted has joined the crew of Squishy, Yatya and Moose (group photo once passed the half way mark) on the ARC2017 Rally across the Atlantic.
