Greetings
It looks as if any chance of competing well in the ARC rally has gone by the wayside due to use of the engine, as the penalty for motoring in light winds is heavy because
if you can make way under sail very slowly then it is not fair to  watch someone motor past at twice the speed. Unfortunately  the long-range  forecast  suggests that this is going to be a very slow Arc and all but a handful will motor, but do expect a poor result  from Avalon (that,s of course we make it to St Lucia n the allocated time to get a result)
Its up to you to declare your engine miles and OF COURSE all those competing in the rally will put exactly the right amount- I will  as i would prefer to.
So instead I would like to run a blog competition on board and need your help.
Over the next few days all the crew will write one blog and all you have to do is vote for the best and most interesting one covering life on board.
To take part just send an email to someone you know on board (not our boat email if you have it) with your vote, and will access the web in St Lucia to get them and award the winner a bottle of rum (or numerous glasses of Pina Calada

So here's to fresh winds from N/E
