Graciosa- to Gran Canaria

Canary island - November 2009

 

We decided to stay in Canaries for a year and plan to head over to Caribbean in 2010

As we intend to cruise the Islands before heading to  Puerto de Mogan on Gran Canaria to keep the boat there

-seems a shame to miss out on fine cruising grounds 

 

First port of call is Graciosa  a small island just north of Lanzarote  

This delightful Island has good anchorage and lots of sand Dunes and quite unlike the other typical Volcanic ones

 

Next we stopped off at Rubicon Marina south end of Lanzarote before heading down the East side of Fuerteventura

 

Unfortunately the cable broke at the Pedestal and we had to rig up with a pair of pliers to get any forward or reverse acceleration

This meant that we had to miss out on a planned anchorage but as winds were fair downwind we carried on to the south end of that island and still managed to anchor twice and visit a marina - all be it with some difficulty

We eventually arrived at Mogan and had three wonderful days at anchor before entering the Marina to take our berth and get repairs done

Mogan is a very attractive port and we really enjoyed our stay there over the following months

 

At some point we decided to enter the ARC rally to sail to St Lucia in company

We shall be heading to Las Palmas in September where the ARC rally starts from in November 2010
