Kantara Atlantic Odyssey

THE REST OF THE DAY HAS BEEN FAIRLY STEADY
(STILL CAN'T FIND THE CAPS LOCK). WIND SPEED BETWEEN 8 AND 10 KNOTS, A FEW
CLOUDS AND NO SWIM DUE TO THE SEA STATE. Nice atlantic rollers pushing in from
the North West. We are now in the Canary Current which in theory should be
pushing us towards our destination but we are not convinced. We are 135 miles
from land and no other boats in sight all day - really feels like we are off
shore the only evidence of our proximity being a few shear waters circling the
boat. The first ships rat was spotted earlier an outbreak of scurvy has
been threatening but this has been avoided with some slices of lemon.
In a gin and tonic of course !!!!!
We are just passing an underwater mountain that
rises 2300 meters from the sea bed to within 21 meters of the surface hoping
that there are no funny currents around - maybe thats why there are no other
boats around here?
Dinner is now ready - potato and lentil curry -
just missing the tuna that got away earlier today.
Lanzarote tomorrow and then on to Gran Canaria -
233 miles to run.
Boat going well getting to know her, just needs
treating right and she purrs along, especially in light winds.
Signing out for today.
