Thursday 3rd December 12th Day At Sea

A full and fun packed day that started at 9ish when one of the much promised squalls (described by previous Atlantic sailors as torrential downpours with up to 50 knot winds) arrived and all the crew were summonsed on deck by the emergency whistle, although the Skipper slept on undisturbed.  The rain did not materialise as the downpour the crew had hoped for, with the idea of a longed for fresh water wash/shower and nor did the winds get to a frightening level.  We nevertheless changed the sails and moved away from the winds.

Domesticity then set in.  Nick mended the fridge hatch, which had been previously broken and Richard made a delicious lunch (needless to say this blog was dictated by the elder Baines himself) which included olive bread.  During the afternoon we were able to change back to our 270 heading and put the twistle up (fondly known by the crew as ‘Natalie’).   A brief swim took place, despite the anxiety of what may be lurking below, however since we have still have not had any success with the fishing rods, we believe the Atlantic ocean may well be empty of any fish (lucky they had not read a blog, I had read this morning, with a yacht excitedly spotting two whales!).

(Again this blog is coming via Watford, and I hope I have deciphered the message correctly, as the line was very bad)
