Porto Santos arrived @ approx 6 am today. Last night, spinnaker down
shortly before supper & ran down on genoa & mainsail.reefed mainsail
through the night & reeled the foresail in a bit, but still cruising on
down @ 7-8 knots towards Porto Santos trying to work out which lights
are what. Billy took it all very seriously but despite this we still
managed to make port & tie up.
Showers LOCKED! So filthy to bed early to rise (well not that early
10ish) coffee before ablutions because the shower block was being
washed.
Some sorting of the boat & then into Porto Santos (ok Bill & Nick are
now arguing over whether this is the name but it looks like there is
only one town on Porto Santo & Nick has just shown me the map and the
town is called Vila Baleira) Then we walked to the town (above) for a
beer overlooking the sea & then a walk into the town (village) centre.
We found a nice little restaurant & started off with starters & that was
a far as we got (well not quite true we jumped from starters to deserts
whilst skipping over the main courses).
Towards the end of this there was an enormous downpour (we're sitting
outside) coming through the umbrella which required that we sought
refuge in the restaurant. Waitresses very accommodating of our absent
Portuguese, attempting to educate Billy (particularly) in Portuguese.
Taxi ride back to the boat (because it was wet). Billy slept whilst
Baines & Nick set the world to rights, negotiated with the locals,
swapped the key to the shower block with an itinerant Brazilian for his
boat.
Off for supper & then bed & then off to Lanzarote tomorrow.

Breakages none (today yet)
