and they're off...well actually the rest of the fleet is
off. We are in fact still in the Muelle Deportivo.
We had just waved fond goodbyes to all the family
on the pier, posed for photos and were heading past Don Pedro's
pumping (music) fuel dock when the accelerator cable parted. So this
left us with no ability to manouver in a rather busy marina (249 yachts leaving
for the start plus numerous spectator boats). We waved for assistance
and of course...everyone waved back. Eventually a rib came to our
assistance and gently nudged us onto the dock. Two hours after the start and some fairly frantic work we
have a temporary fix utilising some cloths pegs we're off.
Upsides are that we should be easy to spot on the fleet
viewer (we'll be the one at the back) and we will be able to overtake
all the way to St Lucia!!
