On Saturday 7th July we got the train from Oeiras into Lisbon, then the
Metro up to the top of the city to visit the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
This is situated in a beautiful park full of sculptures and water
features. We loved the bears made from re-cycled car parts. The museum
itself is in several buildings which house Modern Art and a large
collection of Egyptian and Greek relics in amazing condition. Some of the
jewelery looked like new. Also, vast collections of relics from the
middle ages onwards.
The Modern Art gallery traces the history of Portuguese artists, and their
influences up to the present day.
