Hi all, We lifted anchor from Porto della Taverna bay to sail and motor sail south down the east coast of Sardinia to La Caletta marina. The next day our friend, Lorenzo and his daughter Lisa, very kindly drove from Porto Cervo to collect us and take us an hour and a half drive inland. There are three regions across Sardinia which hold religious festivals, today, it was held in Nuoro. Each village from the region displays their beautiful, traditionally made costumes for a grand procession. The 'typical' dress was of another time in history, with peasant style dress alongside opulently embroidered and embellished costumes.
The atmosphere in the town was really very interesting, with a constant procession of costumes, horses and the crowds watching on. All of these events are like good medicine soothed down by being in glorious sunshine.
The photos speak for themselves, but my favourites are the close ups of the beautifully embellished garments, the photogenic little girl on horseback and the _expression_ of the group of onlookers watching from a high wall in glorious hot sunshine.....enjoy.
A big thank you to Lorenzo and Lisa for kindly taking is to this event.
Love to all Tina and Tony x x
