We slipped our lines from Galaxidhi at 16.00 hrs to sail west along the Gulf of Corinth under the bridge at Rion and along the Gulf of Patras and into the Ionian sea.
We decided to sail the 86 N miles overnight to enable us to arrive in Zakinthos in early morning daylight.

We did four hour watches through the night with Jackie and John on one watch and Tony and I on the other. Poor Jackie and John had the pleasure of dodging tanker traffic and fishing boats towing long nets with brightly lit floats.  All very disorientating at night with distant shore lights behind them.

The Rion bridge at the straits ( see 4th June blog ) is quite a spectacle by day and brightly lit by night.  Our tall mast going under the bridge at night was even more hair raising than in June.
It was an interesting---hold your breath moment for Jackie and John---at least we knew Tioram had gone under safely once before !!!

We arrived in Zakinthos at 08.45 on 7th August and moored stern to the quay and enjoyed a nice day around the town with Jackie and John---- with an early night for all of us as we will be be setting off early tomorrow to sail to Italy.

It will be sad to leave Greece.....................
